Florida FALLEN FIREFIGHTER MEMORIALS

The Florida Fire Foundation helps support the Fallen Firefighter Memorials in Tallahassee and Ocala. In keeping with our mission to  recognize exemplary service, helping to fund the cost of these two important memorials is an ongoing project for the Foundation to honor those who gave their lives in service of their communities.

Each year in Tallahassee, the Florida Division of State Fire Marshal hosts the Ringing of the Bell Ceremony in the Capitol Courtyard at the Fallen Firefighter Memorial to honor fallen firefighters from the previous year.  The ringing of the bell represents the final alarm - a solemn reminder of those who answered the call to serve their communities and made the ultimate sacrifice. Standing alongside departments from across the state reflects the fire service’s commitment to brotherhood, respect, and remembrance. 

One of the events supported by the Florida Fire Foundation,  Florida Fire Service Day @ the Capitol is more than just an event; it is a celebration of the fire service’s indispensable contributions to the safety and resilience of Florida. 

What took place:

Showcase of Specialized Equipment and Vehicles: 

Displays of apparatus, cutting-edge tools, gear and resources. 

Highlighting Innovative Initiatives: 

Presentations of programs and initiatives that enhance firefighter safety, community health, and disaster response. 

Live Demonstrations: 

Educating lawmakers and attendees with interactive demonstrations of firefighter skills and expertise. 

Building Connections: 

Networking with legislators, fire service leaders, and community organizations to foster collaboration and advocacy.
